Dunelm Vets Durham | Popular Local Vet Practice
In this article we look at Dunelm Vets, located at 106 Gilesgate, DH1 1JA. Based on reviews it seems to be a popular vet, along with vets like Ashfield Veterinary Surgery and Gilmoor Vets.
Dunelm Vets Durham – Services Offered
Dunelm Vets would seem to be a small vets based on their front of shop footprint. However they seem to offer a comprehensive range of services. Within their premises they have X-Ray machine, Mobile Ultrasound, Dentistry with X-Ray machine and a surgery. They have kennels and a cattery for pets that need to be monitored post treatment before being allowed home.
They also offer neutering services. There is a small shop in the reception area selling medications, food, supplements and some accessories. It’s states on their website that they not only treat cats, dogs and rabbits and hamsters but also horses! I’d imagine they come to you if you are a horse owner though!
Dunelm Vets has a popular Platinum Care Plan which is designed to help spread the cost of vet care and possibly save you money too. The plan includes regular free consultations, worming and flea treatments and annual booster vaccinations. It also includes 10% discount on treatments like surgeries and X-rays. Looking at the monthly costs it seems for dogs they are based on weight, with smaller dogs being cheaper than large dogs. The fee for rabbits is the lowest but interestingly cats are charged more than all but the largest dog types. I’m guessing this is because most cats are the outdoor independent types and more likely to get into fights or road traffic accidents.
Opening Times and Reviews
Dunelm Vets Durham have the following stated opening times:
- Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6:30pm
- Saturday 9:00am – 12:00pm
- Sunday Closed
Their website states that they offer a 24 Hour Emergency Call Out service. In the event that a pet needed an emergency operation out of hours, it’s not clear whether they would open their own surgery out of hours or whether they outsource it to another local 24 Hour vet.
Looking at online reviews it seems many of the positive comments revolve around the compassion and care shown by all the staff. There are also a large number of comments about the prices charged which seem to be reasonable by all accounts. The tiny number of negative comments often relate to parking as they only have a small car park and they are located on a busy road where other parking is hard to find.
